At Alley’s House, we believe emotional wellness is the key to future success for our moms. We offer one-on-one sessions with a counselor, teen mom groups, case management services, health and wellness workshops and mentorships for moms looking to work through the challenges of parenting. We partner with several local universities to provide master level student counseling internship opportunities. Through these counseling efforts, our moms receive support and guidance, healthy relationships, nutrition plans, referrals, resources and more.

Through personal tutoring, Alley’s House supports moms on GED and high school testing subjects, including math, science, social studies and language arts. Our tutors work with moms in group and one-on-one settings, encouraging peer learning while receiving the individualized support they need. We also offer an online GED test preparation program, Plato Courseware by Edmentum, that includes teaching lessons, practice tests, books and tutoring. In addition, we partner with El Centro Community College to provide an instructor led GED preparation class, currently offered three days a week. El Centro Community College conducts assessments to determine where moms are at academically in order to provide individualized instruction during the class.

Alley’s House offers a parenting curriculum (10 units) developed specifically for at-risk populations. Through community partnerships with Hope Cottage and Planned Parenthood we provide robust parenting and family planning life skills. Participants also engage in weekly parenting teen mom group sessions and practice techniques through hands-on engagement with their children.

Through our Workforce Development program, moms receive 25 units of learning on workforce readiness, professional development and financial literacy. Topics include resume preparation, interview etiquette, sustaining a job, overcoming obstacles, how to talk about finances, predatory lending, dealing with debt and more.

At Alley’s House, our hope is that every mom will leave with a solid plan for her future to provide for herself and her children. Through our Career Pathway services, every graduate will leave with a post-graduation plan for either college or career.  We provide access to information on opportunities available to moms through our college and career fair in addition to case management services.
