alley's house offers a variety of opportunities to participate in the lives of teen mothers. Listed below are a few of those ways, but many more are available and are only limited by the creativity of our volunteers!
- Transportation - provide transportation to and from workshops, doctor appointments, social services, etc. See the Program Opportunities brochure for the latest Workshop Schedule.
- Mentors for Young Mothers - a one-on-one mentoring program that matches volunteers with teen moms to help her achieve her goals. Six hours minimum per month, 1 year commitment required.
- Tutoring - Put your expertise to work and help moms with homework or areas of difficulty. Meet with the moms before or after school, or on the weekends.
- GED Preparation - Give teen mothers one-on-one preparation for GED examination.
- Special Projects - Newsletter writing, donor mailings, website management, etc.
- Special Events - We have several special events planned throughout the year and many volunteers are needed for various activities. There are several special activities that you can host yourself, such as diaper drives, baby showers, donation dinner parties, etc.
- Board/Administration/Committees - Various opportunities are available.
- Workshop Facilitator - Facilitate life skills workshops-See Program Opportunities brochure for workshop topics.
- General Office Training - Assist teens in attaining general office skills, such as use of MS Office, typing, answering phones, filing, etc.
- Host a Diaper Drive
- Coordinate diaper drives at work
- Dinner parties - Invite friends who bring pkg of diapers
- Dinner parties - Invite friends who make a donation to alley's house
- Host a baby shower
- Computer training
- Transportation to social services agencies and life skills workshops.
- Child Care Volunteers - provide child care while moms are receiving tutoring, computer training or attending a life skills workshop.
