Mariel's story Mariel came to alley’s house in 2006 when she was 19 years old. She was a high school dropout with a 6 month old son named Julian. Wanting a better life for her and her baby, Mariel came to alley’s house to get her GED and find a good job. She was matched with a tutor and received her GED in August 2008.

By participating in our On the Job Training program, she was able to acquire the necessary computer and office skills to get a stable, full-time job. Now at 21 years old, she is attending college at Eastfield, working full-time and being a parent full-time! Mariel will continue to stay involved with alley’s house by volunteering as a mentor
