Intern Responsibilities and Requirements
alley's house is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization formed in February 1997. Our mission is to empower teen mothers and their children to become independent through support services, education and mentoring. We accomplish this mission through our Mentors for Young Mothers program, Building Brighter Tomorrows life skill workshops, computer training, on the job office training, tutoring and case management services.
We have a variety of wonderful opportunities available for interns in the following areas:
- Business
- Communications
- Computer Maintenance
- Computer Training
- Early Childhood Development
- Marketing
- Psychology
- Public Relations
- Social Work
- Teaching
Listed below are the internship requirements:
- Complete a Volunteer Information Packet and submit necessary forms.
- Agree to a Criminal Background and reference checks.
- Attend the appropriate orientation/training workshops. These are usually held in the evenings. Special arrangements can be made to accommodate your schedule.
- Meet with the Executive Director to outline your specific Intern Plan.
- Meet with the Executive Director weekly to review progress.
- Special projects as outlined by the Executive Director.
- Your internship can and will usually include activities across many facets of a nonprofit organization: case management, volunteer management, program development, community liaison, marketing, child care program, tutoring, mentoring, general business, computer training, etc.
