Our Accomplishments in 2009

  • Recruited and trained 109 new volunteers serving alley’s house in various capacities.
  • We served 238 teen moms and over 400 children.
  • We had 100% staff retention.
  • We developed a new way of measuring independence and ultimately graduation from our program.
  • We have improved our client accountability measures and thus increased our month-to-month retention.
  • Four teen moms graduated from our program.
  • Three teen moms received their GED.
  • One teen mom received her high school diploma.
  • Two of our 2009 graduates have enrolled in college in 2009.
  • Two of our 2009 graduates will be starting college in 2010.
  • Ellie Ceja won the 1st Annual Chad Willis Scholarship.  Two additional moms are receiving monthly stipends to assist with their college expenses.
  • Thirty UNT students infiltrated alley’s house during the Spring 2009 semester and assisted with programs, fundraising (raised over $3700), advocacy issues, child care program, workshop facilitation, etc.  They left an amazing, lasting imprint on our program and our teen moms!
  • Five interns completed their internships with alley’s house.  Universities represented included:  UT Arlington, UTD, TWU, and DBU. 
  • Launched the Girl Talk phone Mentoring Program.
  • Launched the Reality Check Pregnancy Prevention program in local middle schools, churches and community groups.
  • Launched weekly Life Skills Workshops with the help of the UNT students. 
  • Texas Rangers Association (Ian Kinsler and the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation) sponsored the remodeling of our Resource Room.  Other sponsors included Business Interiors and Two Men and a Truck.
  • Increased the number of weekly tutors and childcare volunteers to serve more teen moms.
  • Chad Willis, President and CEO of Texas Energy Holdings, hosted our 1st annual Toast to alley’s house Gala event.
  • We held our 1st Annual Plugged In Event with Deadbeat Darlings held at AmPm Restaurant.
  • Named Toni Patterson our new President of the Board of Directors, taking over from Brandy Ducote.
  • Named Toni Patterson our 2009 Volunteer of the Year.
  • Named Loida Garza our 2009 Mother of the Year.
  • We ended the year for the first time with two months of expenses in reserve!
  • Our 5th Annual Art Auction attracted over 36 artists and raised $8,371.
  • Volunteers logged over 3,605 hours of service to alley’s house.
  • We logged 2,805 case contacts with our teen mothers and Case Managers.
  • Local volunteer groups held 8 diaper/baby drives providing much needed supplies for our teen moms.
