Our Accomplishments in 2008
- Revised the Client Assessment process to strengthen client accountability
- Implemented an Incentive Program where teen moms can earn alley’s house dollars to purchase diapers, formula and other baby things that have been donated to alley’s house. This gives the moms a sense of pride and accomplishment earning these things rather than taking handouts.
- Increased the number of weekly tutors and childcare volunteers.
- Increased the total number of clients served from 40 to 50 by establishing levels of service based on need. The level determines the number of case management hours required for each teen mom. This allows us to serve more teen moms overall.
- Established a retention rate of 91% of teen moms being served month-to-month.
- We held our first annual Children’s Fashion Show raising $1,736.
- It was our first year of positive net income since going full-time in 2005! Our goal was to raise $238,615 and we raised $306,493.
- Our 4th Annual Art Auction attracted over 30 artists and raised $18,956.
- We had 3 graduates in 2008 and all 3 graduates are now in college or technical training.
- Toni Patterson was welcomed as our new Volunteer Special Events Director, taking over the reins from Brandy Ducote.
- Named Brandy Ducote our Volunteer of the Year for 2008 at our annual Volunteer Appreciation event!
- Three current clients started college!
- Named Daniela Rodriguez our Mother of the Year for 2008 at our annual Mother’s Day Picnic.
- Over 150 volunteers logged over 1200 hours of service to alley’s house.
- We had 8 teen moms matched with mentors at year-end.
- We logged 3,233 case contacts with our teen mothers and Case Managers.
- Colleen Plair, LBSW, formerly a social work intern became a full-time Case Manager.
- Diana Munoz was hired in September 2008 as our new Resource Room Manager / Administrative Assistant.
- We recruited 5 new Board Directors in 2008.
- A 1959 Rolls Royce Silver Cloud valued at $33,200 was donated to alley’s house by Chad Willis and was raffled off at our 5th Annual Wine Tasting. We raised over $17,405!
- We had our most successful Back to School Drive ever - with volunteers providing backpacks and school supplies for over 50 teen mothers with enough supplies to last all year!
- We also had our most successful Holiday Party with 48 teen moms in attendance with their children and a visit from Santa. Every teen mom and child was able to open gifts and enjoy food donated by wonderful volunteers!
- Participated in the Emerging Agency Leadership Institute sponsored by the Dallas Women’s Foundation and received an Emerging Agency Leadership Grant to provide Strategic Planning for our Board of Directors.
